Do I need batteries for a solar electric system?
No, a grid tied system allows you to feed extra power generated to the utility company and then pull back when your night generating enough.                                    Essentially the utility company becomes your battery pack.

Will my utility meter really spin backwards?
Yes, when a grid-tied solar electric system generates more power than the location is consuming, the excess electricity goes back to the utility grid.                 Excess power going back into the grid “spins” your meter backwards or indicates reverse flow if digital.

What sort of maintenance is necessary for my system?
With solar panels, there is barely any maintenance that is required.
The nice thing about solar panels is that there are no motors or other complex moving parts to maintain.                                                                                       There are a few maintenance regimens that are required by solar panels, but they are not very time consuming at all.

How long will my system last?
With the increased efficiency in technology, most panels and components come with a 20-25 year warranty. 

What about wind energy?
Wind energy can be a good option for offsetting your utility consumption. 
You will need to reside in an area that has a wind classification of 2 or higher and not sheltered by nearby hills or large masses of trees.
